In the Summer of 2016, the Board of Inhabit began an intentional process of listening to God and listening to our neighbors as we began to think about organizational change. We asked the critical question, "If our ministry disappeared tomorrow, would we be missed in the neighborhood?"
What we discovered was that our leaders in the community felt a sense that we later labeled, "Holy Dissatisfaction." We felt called to invest more resources directly into the lives of our neighbors in order to see our community flourish.
We were guided specifically by Jeremiah 29:7,
"Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
As a result, we decided to devote a specific arm of our organization to community development initiatives. Currently we are embarking on a program to rehab homes in our community and sell them at a price point that allows our neighbors access to quality affordable housing at a rate comparable to their current rent.
Stay tuned for how you can help.
